True Metal
Brutal, Bold, Beautiful
Reads: "Eye Hate Capitalism". The true essence of Metal, Punk, Hardcore, all Hard Rock, and indeed, all “counter-culture”, is expression of the pain, trauma, misery, and anger caused by a great number of cascading social illnesses rooted in extreme social inequality. Poverty, abuse, crime, alienation, all are results of the fundamental injustices and contradictions of capitalist society. This design which reads "Eye Hate Capitalism" reconnects the confused rage of commodified angst to its working class, revolutionary, radical leftist core, with a nod to the original sludge stoner doom band from the NOLA metal scene, Eye Hate God.

The mainstream liberal narrative of progress and development is that modernity and capitalism enabled a blossoming of creative potentials, enriching our lives with greater variety than ever before. While the truth is the exact opposite: everything we love has survived and thrived against all odds, despite all the repeated attempts to ban, prohibit, suppress, and destroy it. How can such a historical context, the experience of 16 generations of chains, abject poverty and institutionalized oppression, followed by lives spent within and switching between institutions of an alienated consumerist order, not produce music of a particular emotional character? The real meaning of "It's a wonderful world", if you listen to Louis' course and positively forlorn voice, and the sad reeds in accompaniment, is that "DESPITE all the painful heart breaks, EVEN with all this injustice, EVEN when the darkness, despair, and bleakness is endless and there is no hope in sight, it is STILL a wonderful world." – a joy felt through tears. A continuous strand of sadness, of rage, of desperation and of despair form a 500-years-long line, from the origins of the Blues on the plantations to the desolate anguish of Michael Jackson to the blinding rage of Metal.
